The Installation of Pastor Marty Jacobson

Today Community Lutheran Church celebrated the installation of our new pastor, Marty Jacobson.  Pastor Marty is a gift and blessing to our church and we were excited to officially welcome him, Marin, Kristofer and Kari into our family.

The service for his installation was a wonderful event led by Bishop Murray Finck of the Pacifica Synod of the ELCA.  The service prelude was provided by Pastor Marty’s musically talented family with Kari on flute, Kristofer on the violin and Marin on piano.

During his sermon Bishop Finck shared the importance of the moment and that we should be thankful to so many people for bringing our congregation and Pastor Marty together.  He also shared how the scriptures chosen by Pastor Marty offered an insight into how he would lead our congregation.  Finally he spoke of the importance of making sure we were doing all we can to actively bring the Lord’s message to our community.  Making sure we are active in serving our community remains important every day in helping our congregation to grow and flourish.   Bishop Finck then invited the congregation to join him in installing Pastor Marty as the new spiritual leader and shepherd of our church.

Following the service we celebrated Pastor Marty’s installation Hawaiian style with a luau.  As Christy Riley shared, Aloha has three meanings; hello, good-bye and welcome.  We offered Aloha to Pastor Marty and his family as we welcomed them to CLC and shared a special meal together.  The food was delicious and plentiful (a special thank you to all who helped to prepare the feast).  As you would expect, the chocolate fountains were the main attraction after dinner as young and old alike enjoyed the many dip-able items.

As always the spirit of our congregation shone through the fellowship we shared.  It was a truly special day for our congregation.
